GP Dr Deborah Faint receives MBE for services to people experiencing homelessness
Brownlow Health GP Partner Dr Deborah Faint has formally received her MBE, recognising almost three decades of dedicated work to improve healthcare for people experiencing homelessness and some of Liverpool’s most vulnerable communities.
Dr Faint was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in The King’s Birthday Honours earlier this year for her outstanding services to general practice for people experiencing homelessness.
She has dedicated nearly 30 years to improving access to healthcare and addressing health inequalities, particularly for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, trauma and social exclusion.
At Brownlow Health, Dr Faint has been instrumental in developing and leading the organisation’s specialist Homeless Service, which provides accessible, tailored healthcare and support to people experiencing homelessness across Liverpool.
Her work has focused on breaking down the barriers that can prevent people experiencing multiple disadvantages from accessing traditional healthcare services, championing an approach built around compassion, dignity and the individual needs of each patient. Her unwavering commitment has helped transform the lives of countless individuals who may otherwise have struggled to access the care and support they need.
Dr Faint said:
“Receiving the MBE was an incredibly special moment. While it is a huge personal honour, I see it as recognition of the work of the many dedicated colleagues and partners I have had the privilege of working alongside over the years.
“Most importantly, I hope it helps shine a light on the importance of ensuring that people experiencing homelessness and exclusion can access the same compassionate, high-quality healthcare as everyone else.”
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Faint has been a GP trainer and mentor, helping to embed the principles of equity, inclusion and compassionate care in the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Her contribution has also extended to wider service transformation in some of Liverpool’s most deprived communities, with a continued focus on reducing health inequalities and ensuring healthcare reaches those who need it most.
Everyone at Brownlow Health is incredibly proud of Dr Faint and this well-deserved recognition. Her dedication, compassion and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of people experiencing homelessness have made a lasting difference to countless patients, as well as inspiring colleagues and future healthcare professionals. We warmly congratulate her on receiving her MBE and thank her for the extraordinary contribution she continues to make to our patients, communities and the city of Liverpool.
