Brownlow Health is proud to be a Veteran Friendly Accredited GP Practice

The Veteran Friendly GP Practice Accreditation Programme helps practices identify, support and care for military veterans and their families. As an accredited practice, our team has received training to better understand the healthcare needs of those who have served in the UK Armed Forces and the family around them.

How We Support Veterans

As a Veteran Friendly GP Practice, we:

  • Identify and record veteran status in patient records to help ensure access to the appropriate services and support.
  • Have a designated clinical lead with knowledge of military-related health conditions and the needs of the armed forces community.
  • Provide referrals to specialist veteran services, including:

Op COURAGE for mental health and wellbeing support.

Op RESTORE for physical health conditions related to military service.

Op NOVA for support for veterans who may need help with housing, employment, finances, wellbeing or navigating the justice system.

  • Help eligible veterans access priority NHS treatment for conditions related to their service, subject to clinical need.

We also work alongside trusted organisations that support the Armed Forces community, including The Poppy Factory. The Poppy Factory provides specialist employment, health and wellbeing support for veterans and their families. We can help signpost veterans to this service and discuss available support where appropriate.
